Key Responsibilities:
- Read Blueprints: Study technical drawings and plans to understand project goals.
- Cut and Shape: Use shears, saws, torches, and presses to prep metal stock.
- Join and Weld: Assemble and weld metal parts using MIG, TIG, or arc methods.
- Inspect Quality: Measure finished work to check accuracy against the design.
- Maintain Safety: Keep a clean work area and wear proper safety gear.
Qualifications:
- Technical Training: High school diploma plus vocational training, trade school, or a welding/fabrication certification.
- Hand-Tool Mastery: Experience with heavy shop machinery, grinders, and measuring tools.
- Math Skills: Good grasp of geometry and basic math for precise layouts.
- Physical Strength: Ability to lift heavy steel and stand for long shifts.
- Attention to Detail: High precision to prevent costly material waste.
